Last week was a challenging week in terms of juggling, life/work/personal/health, however – I managed to get a bunch of stuff done which I am proud of myself for, one of which was this week’s assignment…

This week we were to illustrate “The Snail and the Rose Tree” by Hans Christian Andersen. The assignment included coming up with your character, background and a whole bunch of stuff  –  did I mention that this course is awesome! I have been feeling somewhat overwhelmed by all the wonderful artists some of which are well established in the illustration world –  however, Lilla has a wonderful way of dispelling all of that and bringing calmness and allowing everyone to flow on their own journey. It always comes right at the right time during the project when you are in the midst of questioning whether you should throw all of your creativity, paints and pencils in the bin and go work at the checkout! (not that there is anything wrong with that).

Anywho, here is my entry for the week, i could have done this one a few different ways and polished it more (which i will do for my portfolio) however the deadline was here so I had to enter it.

It uses the complete gamma of materials. – Paint, pencils, digital, pastels. Trully a mixed media work. My goal for this course isn’t so much about the end project its about the process and finding that spot that “works”.

During the assignment I also came up with this little guy “Robo Snail” I have a story about him you will see more of him later, but thought I would show him to you now 🙂robosnail_web

Let me know what you think about it, especially about “Robo Snail” the look on my boys face was awesome when they saw him they laughed.  🙂
