Sherry McCourt
Sherry is a local artist here on the coast, residing on MacMasters Beach.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I’m moving on this year, away from painting on ephemera such as old maps or postcards, to my love of more traditional work. I still have a number of quality vintage maps however and once they’ve been used up, I won’t be painting more. Within my collection of old photos from the 1920s to 1970s, there are a number of images which sing out to be reimagined – brought to life with colour and a more painterly composition. I’m not interested in just repainting the photo in colour – that’s not enough of a challenge. I want to put more in to it.
